This is a short story called Divine Carnival was inspired by Divine Comedy (Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradiso), Paradise Lost and Paradise Retained. It also is inspired by Shakespeare's plays, Hamlet and Macbeth. I have a things for antiheroes that become good and bad, the same with Byronic heroes, Characters with tragic flaws, and the emotional feel of tragic heroes.
